Present simple: routines, negatives and questions

Talk about daily routines and things that are generally true.

What you will learn

  • Describe routines using the base verb or -s form.
  • Make negatives with don’t and doesn’t.
  • Ask questions with do/does and give short answers.

Har kuni yoki muntazam bajariladigan ishlar hamda umumiy haqiqatlar uchun present simple ishlatiladi. He, she, it bilan darak gapda fe’lga odatda -s qo‘shiladi.

Use the present simple for habits, repeated activities and general facts. With I, you, we and they, use the base verb. With he, she and it, add -s or the appropriate spelling change. In negatives and questions, do/does carries the grammar, so the main verb returns to its base form.

Regular schedule

Negative

We don’t eat meat.

General fact

Cats have four legs.

Mushuklarning to‘rtta oyog‘i bor.

Common Mistakes

Avoid: She walk to school.

Use: She walks to school.

Add -s in an affirmative with she.

Avoid: He doesn’t likes tea.

Use: He doesn’t like tea.

After doesn’t, use the base form like.

Avoid: Does she studies here?

Use: Does she study here?

Does already marks the he/she/it form.

Avoid: I am work in a shop.

Use: I work in a shop.

Do not add am to a present simple action verb.
