Subject and object pronouns

Choose a pronoun for the person doing the action or receiving it.

What you will learn

  • Match subject pronouns to object pronouns.
  • Use object forms after verbs and prepositions.
  • Replace repeated names with clear pronouns.

She knows me gapida she ishni bajarayotgan ega, me esa harakat qaratilgan odam. Fe’ldan yoki with, for, to kabi ko‘makchilardan keyin me, him, her kabi shakllar ishlatiladi.

The subject does the action: I help Tom. The object receives the action: Tom helps me. Use object pronouns after a verb when they receive its action, and after prepositions such as with, for, to and about. You and it have the same subject and object forms.

Examples

Her replaces Lola

I know Lola. I see her at school.

Men Lolani taniyman. Uni maktabda ko‘raman.

Them for plural things

These books are good. I read them every day.

Bu kitoblar yaxshi. Men ularni har kuni o‘qiyman.

Me receives the action

My brother phones me on Sundays.

Akam menga yakshanba kunlari qo‘ng‘iroq qiladi.

We / us

We live near our uncle. He often visits us.

Biz amakimiz yonida yashaymiz. U tez-tez biznikiga keladi.

After for

This sandwich is for you.

Bu sendvich siz uchun.

Common Mistakes

Avoid: Me like this song.

Use: I like this song.

The person doing like is the subject: I.

Avoid: I know he.

Use: I know him.

After know, use the object form him.

Avoid: Come with we.

Use: Come with us.

After with, use the object pronoun us.

Avoid: These shoes are nice. I like they.

Use: These shoes are nice. I like them.

Use them for plural objects after like.
