A/an and singular/plural nouns

Name one thing with a or an, and learn how noun forms change for more than one.

What you will learn

  • Choose a or an by the next sound.
  • Use common plural spelling patterns.
  • Recognise common irregular plurals.

Bitta sanaladigan narsa haqida gapirsak, a yoki an ishlatamiz. Bir nechta narsa uchun otni ko‘plikka o‘zgartiramiz: a bag → two bags.

A and an mean one of a type when we do not identify a particular thing. Use them with singular countable nouns. Choose a before a consonant sound and an before a vowel sound. For plural nouns, do not use a/an. Most nouns add -s, but some need -es or a different form.
